剑桥学人抗击震灾倡议书
同胞们，当我们沐浴在英伦明媚的春光中时，祖国腹地那也曾风光绮丽，生机盎然的一座座城镇已在眨眼间被地震抹平；当我们呼吸着剑桥芬芳的花香时，废墟下那数以万计的生命却正在飞快地枯萎凋零；当我们面前的绿茵上跑过一群雀跃的孩童时，映入眼帘的却是那留在灰白瓦砾外的灰白小手…….
此时此刻，近在咫尺的美好仿佛突然变得异常虚幻，而只有千里之外的残垣断壁、呼天抢地、生离死别才是真实的存在。不管离开生养自己的这片土地多远多久，我们在泪水中才同时发现原来对她一直爱得那么深沉！
2008，本应是华夏大地藉奥运盛事向世界展示其日新月异、突飞猛进的一年，接踵而至的天灾人祸却似乎在传达着天妒中华的讯息，但所有炎黄子孙在这一刻的民族气魄又让我们在悲痛之后愈加振奋！大国崛起，不仅在于国力的昌盛，更是基于精神的挺拔。勇敢、坚韧、勤劳、无私、乐观，这些曾支撑中华民族绵延数千年的品质，在这一刻抖落了利益的尘埃，再次迸发出耀眼的光芒，必将引领她走向真正的辉煌！
身在海外，我们有幸见证这一伟大历程，我们也从未远离这一伟大历程。特大雪灾时的慷慨解囊，火炬传递中的同仇敌忾，无良媒体前的无声呐喊，我们甚至可以自豪说，我们始终走在这一历程的最前沿！现在，面对更加惨烈的灾祸，更加触目的哀痛，更加淋漓的鲜血，我们唯有结成更加团结的群体，伸出更加有力的援手，奉上更加无私的贡献！
正是基于这样的信念，剑桥中国学联正在联合剑桥大学中国文化促进会，剑桥大学CNY Trust进行抗击震灾的慈善募捐，并将于下周举办赈灾义演音乐会，希望用这次聚会把剑桥每一颗牵挂的心汇聚成浓烈的暖流，涌向汶川、北川、绵阳、德阳、、、、、、、长歌当哭，是痛定之后的最好纪念；众志成城，是度过难关的诺亚方舟。就让我们携手一心，共同为这片土地骄傲，共同为远方的亲人祈祷！

Dear members,
A massive earthquake struck Sichuan province,
China, on this Monday. The 7.8-magnitude earthquake
was among the worst to strike China in decades,
devastating a hilly region of
small cities and towns in Sichuan and nearby
provinces.
The official Xinhua News Agency said the death
toll exceeded 19,509 in Sichuan
province alone, and the total
death toll from China's earthquake could soar
to more than 50,000. Hundred
thousands of buildings collapsed.
